The Heart of Angling. The Precision of TAA.

TAA Fishing is a UK fishing tackle brand built around a simple principle: equipment should earn an angler’s confidence through purposeful design, real-world testing and continuous refinement. Behind TAA is The Amateur Angler, the passion for fishing that started it all and continues to shape everything we do.

We develop and assess tackle with real fishing conditions in mind, drawing on experience across UK sea and carp fishing. Rather than designing around marketing claims, our approach is to test, learn and refine, paying attention to the details that matter on the water: reliability, usability, strength, presentation and performance.

Precision • Strength • Passion defines the TAA approach. Precision guides how we design and refine. Strength represents the reliability we expect from our equipment. Passion comes from The Amateur Angler itself: a genuine love of fishing and the belief that better tackle should be shaped by experience on the water.

Mission

Our mission is to develop fishing tackle that combines real angling experience with disciplined design and testing. Through The Amateur Angler, we bring the passion and heritage of fishing; through TAA, we apply precision, strength and practical engineering. We aim to create equipment that performs reliably in real conditions, support trusted local makers where appropriate, and help anglers choose tackle with greater confidence.

Vision

Our vision is to build a trusted UK fishing brand known for purposeful design, honest testing and dependable performance. We want TAA to grow through real-world experience, open learning and continual refinement, while keeping The Amateur Angler at the heart of the brand. As the range develops, every product should have a clear purpose, a reason to exist and evidence that it is ready for the water.

Core Values and Unique Strengths

Love for the Craft

Fishing is at the heart of The Amateur Angler. Genuine experience on the water shapes how we think, test and develop everything carrying the TAA name.

Precision • Strength • Passion

Our three defining values. Precision guides our design and refinement, strength reflects the reliability we demand, and passion keeps real angling experience at the centre.

Real-World Tested

We test and assess tackle in real fishing conditions, using what we learn on the water to identify weaknesses, refine designs and improve performance.

Community First

We believe angling is strengthened by the people behind it. Where appropriate, we work with and support independent makers while sharing practical knowledge with fellow anglers.

Premium by Design

For TAA, premium means purposeful materials, thoughtful engineering, disciplined testing and attention to detail, not simply a premium label.

Accessible & Welcoming

Whether someone is developing their skills or has spent years on the water, TAA aims to make useful knowledge and well-considered tackle accessible to anglers who share our passion.

Founder’s Letter

The Amateur Angler began long before TAA became a brand. It began with the simple excitement of fishing: learning through mistakes, trying different approaches and spending countless hours on the water simply because I loved being there.

Over time, that passion developed into something more purposeful. The more I fished, the more I became interested in why tackle worked, why sometimes it did not, and how small changes in design, materials and presentation could make a meaningful difference. That curiosity eventually became the foundation for TAA Fishing.

The Amateur Angler represents the heart of that journey: the enjoyment, memories, learning and community that make fishing special. TAA represents the discipline we bring to what we create: Precision, Strength and Passion, supported by real-world testing, continual refinement and a determination to make equipment we can genuinely stand behind.

I want TAA to grow without losing the values that started it. That means listening to anglers, learning from experience on the water, supporting good craftsmanship and being prepared to improve something when testing tells us it is not yet good enough.

This is only the beginning of that journey. In my full Founder’s Letter, I share more about where The Amateur Angler came from, why TAA was created and the kind of fishing brand and community I hope we can build around it.
