TAA FIshing

Last updated: 29 September 2026

These terms explain the registration requirements, coverage, exclusions, claim procedure and remedies applying to the voluntary TAA Limited Rod Warranty offered on eligible TAA-branded fishing rods.

These terms should be read together with the individual TAA Warranty Certificate issued for the registered rod.

The Warranty Certificate forms part of the commercial-warranty record and states the warranty duration, commencement date and expiry date applicable to the particular rod.

The warranty period varies according to the eligible rod, model, range or warranty programme. There is therefore no single warranty duration applying to every TAA fishing rod.

These warranty terms should also be read together with our Returns Policy, Shipping Policy and Terms & Conditions where relevant.

The TAA Limited Rod Warranty is additional to your statutory consumer rights and does not replace, restrict or reduce those rights.

1. The Guarantor

The TAA Limited Rod Warranty is provided by:

The Amateur Angler Ltd
trading as TAA Fishing
6 Dandelion Road
Frome
BA11 5FL
United Kingdom

Company number: 16934866
Email: info@taafishing.com

The Amateur Angler Ltd is the guarantor of the TAA Limited Rod Warranty.

2. Eligible Fishing Rods

The TAA Limited Rod Warranty applies only to eligible TAA-branded fishing rods where a commercial warranty has expressly been offered.

Not every TAA product is necessarily covered by the same warranty programme, duration or conditions.

The individual Warranty Certificate issued following successful registration identifies the particular registered rod and records the warranty period applicable to it.

Registration does not extend the warranty beyond the commencement and expiry dates shown on the Warranty Certificate.

3. Registration Requirements

Where registration is required for an eligible fishing rod, registration should normally be completed within 30 days of delivery.

Where the rod is collected rather than delivered, registration should normally be completed within 30 days of collection.

The registration requirement applies to the voluntary commercial warranty only.

Failure to register for the TAA Limited Rod Warranty does not remove statutory rights which otherwise apply to the purchase.

Registration is not complete merely because a registration form has been started or submitted.

Registration is complete when the required information has been supplied, the required verification process has been completed, applicable eligibility checks have been satisfied and a TAA Warranty Certificate has been issued.

The main registration form is available on our Fishing Rod Warranty, Registration & Claims page.

4. Direct TAA Fishing Purchases

Where an eligible rod is purchased directly from TAA Fishing, the customer will normally receive a unique registration code associated with the qualifying purchase.

The customer must provide the required registration information and valid registration code through the rod-registration process.

TAA Fishing may verify information submitted during registration against relevant order, customer, product, serial-number and delivery records.

After the first registration stage has been successfully completed, a separate verification code may be issued to the registration email address.

Where issued, the verification code will normally remain valid for 48 hours.

The verification stage must be completed before the code expires.

Where a verification code expires, another code may be requested where our system permits. Issuing a replacement verification code does not extend the original registration deadline.

5. Stockist Purchases

Where an eligible TAA-branded rod was purchased from an independent stockist, the purchaser should contact info@taafishing.com within the applicable registration period.

Sufficient information must be supplied to allow TAA Fishing to reasonably identify and verify the purchase, customer and rod.

This will normally include the purchaser's contact information, retailer, rod model, serial number, relevant purchase information and suitable proof of purchase.

A genuine retail receipt does not necessarily have to contain the purchaser's name.

Where the documentation does not identify the purchaser sufficiently, TAA Fishing may request reasonable additional evidence or seek confirmation from the retailer.

TAA Fishing may contact the relevant stockist where reasonably necessary to verify purchase or product information.

Providing proof of purchase does not itself complete registration. Registration is complete only after the relevant verification has been completed and the Warranty Certificate has been issued.

6. Timely Registrations Requiring Further Verification

Where a customer substantially completes the required registration within the applicable 30-day period but TAA Fishing reasonably requires further information or additional processing time, the registration will not be treated as late merely because TAA Fishing's verification continues beyond that period.

The customer must respond reasonably and promptly to any request for further information.

TAA Fishing may consider a genuinely late registration in exceptional circumstances at its discretion, but acceptance of one late registration does not create a general entitlement to late registration.

This discretion relates only to the voluntary commercial warranty and does not affect statutory consumer rights.

7. Warranty Certificate and Warranty Period

Following successful registration, TAA Fishing will issue a TAA Warranty Certificate for the registered rod.

The certificate should be retained by the registered purchaser.

The Warranty Certificate records the individual warranty details applicable to the rod, including the warranty duration and relevant commencement and expiry dates.

Because different eligible rods may have different warranty durations, the duration stated on the Warranty Certificate applicable to the particular rod governs the individual warranty period, subject to any stronger warranty promise expressly made in associated product advertising or other binding warranty information.

If you believe a Warranty Certificate contains an incorrect rod model, serial number, duration or warranty date, please contact info@taafishing.com promptly so that the record can be investigated.

A Warranty Certificate confirms registration under the commercial warranty. It does not guarantee acceptance of every future claim.

8. Territorial Scope

Unless the applicable Warranty Certificate or product-specific warranty information expressly provides wider coverage, the TAA Limited Rod Warranty applies within the United Kingdom.

The territorial scope relates to the voluntary commercial warranty and does not restrict any mandatory legal rights which apply independently.

9. Registered Purchaser and Transfer

Unless TAA Fishing expressly confirms otherwise, the TAA Limited Rod Warranty is personal to the original registered purchaser.

The warranty record is associated with the registered customer, registered email address, relevant purchase, rod serial number and Warranty Certificate.

Selling, gifting or otherwise transferring the rod does not automatically transfer the voluntary commercial warranty to another person.

Where a rod or rod section is replaced under an accepted claim, the warranty record may be updated to associate the replacement serial number with the original registered purchaser.

That update does not amount to transfer of the warranty to a different owner.

10. What the TAA Limited Rod Warranty Covers

Subject to these terms and the applicable Warranty Certificate, the TAA Limited Rod Warranty covers eligible manufacturing, material or workmanship defects affecting the registered fishing rod during its applicable warranty period.

Depending upon the nature of the rod and defect, an eligible issue may concern the rod blank, rod sections, guides, tip, reel seat, factory-installed fittings or another covered factory component.

Commercial-warranty cover applies where the relevant issue results from an eligible manufacturing, material or workmanship defect rather than an excluded external cause.

A fishing rod breaking, cracking, bending or otherwise failing does not by itself establish that such a defect exists.

11. Matters Outside Commercial-Warranty Cover

The TAA Limited Rod Warranty does not cover damage or deterioration to the extent it was caused by something other than an eligible manufacturing, material or workmanship defect.

Depending upon the circumstances, this may include ordinary wear, accidental impact, dropping, crushing, damage during transportation after the customer has taken possession, incorrect assembly, inappropriate loading, shock loading, use outside stated specifications, excessive rod angles or high-sticking, excessive force used against snags, inappropriate lifting or swinging of fish, unsuitable connected equipment, unauthorised modification or repair, inappropriate storage, inadequate maintenance or corrosion resulting from subsequent exposure or lack of appropriate care.

The presence of one of these circumstances does not automatically determine a claim.

The relevant question is whether the excluded circumstance caused or materially contributed to the damage being claimed under the commercial warranty.

Nothing in this section removes an applicable statutory right.

12. Rod Care and Reasonable Use

Fishing rods should be assembled, transported, stored, maintained and used appropriately and within their intended specifications.

Rod sections and ferrules should be correctly seated and kept reasonably free from dirt, grit and debris.

Connected tackle and loads should be suitable for the specifications of the rod.

Reasonable care should be taken to avoid impact, crushing, excessive loading and extreme rod angles.

Following exposure to saltwater or other potentially corrosive environments, appropriate care should be taken in accordance with the nature of the product.

Failure to follow a recommendation does not automatically invalidate the warranty. However, damage caused or materially contributed to by inappropriate use, maintenance or storage may fall outside commercial-warranty cover.

13. Making a Fishing Rod Fault or Warranty Claim

A claim for a suspected manufacturing, material or workmanship rod fault should be submitted using the dedicated form on our Fishing Rod Warranty, Registration & Claims page.

The claimant should retain the rod, affected rod sections and any broken components while the matter is being assessed.

TAA Fishing may reasonably request information needed to identify the rod and investigate the issue.

This may include purchase information, Warranty Certificate details where applicable, rod model, serial number, photographs, video, information about when and how the issue occurred, relevant tackle or loading information and details of any previous damage, modification or repair.

Information supplied in support of a claim must be accurate.

Submitting a claim does not itself constitute acceptance that a manufacturing defect exists or that the customer is entitled to a particular commercial-warranty remedy.

14. Claim Assessment and Inspection

TAA Fishing may assess a claim using the information supplied by the customer together with reasonably relevant records held by TAA Fishing.

Depending upon the issue, this may include registration information, serial and batch information, purchase records, quality-control records, packing or dispatch records, photographs, inspection findings and relevant claim history.

TAA Fishing may require physical inspection of the rod or affected section where reasonably necessary to establish the nature or cause of the failure.

The assessment may consider whether there is evidence consistent with an eligible manufacturing, material or workmanship defect and whether there is evidence of impact, crushing, overloading, inappropriate loading, incorrect assembly, alteration, repair or another external cause.

The existence of a pre-dispatch quality-control record may be relevant evidence but does not prove that a latent defect could not have existed.

Nothing in the commercial-warranty assessment process changes any statutory burden of proof or legal presumption applicable to a statutory consumer claim.

15. Returning a Rod for Inspection

Please do not send a rod, rod section or broken component to TAA Fishing unless we have asked you to do so.

Where return or physical inspection is required, TAA Fishing will provide the appropriate instructions.

This allows the correct carrier, packaging and identification arrangements to be considered and reduces the risk of further transport damage or unnecessary expense.

Where applicable law requires TAA Fishing to bear reasonable or necessary return costs in connection with a statutory fault claim, those costs will be dealt with in accordance with the customer's statutory rights and our Returns Policy.

International customers should contact TAA Fishing before independently arranging an expensive international return.

16. Commercial-Warranty Remedies

Where TAA Fishing accepts a claim under the TAA Limited Rod Warranty, the commercial-warranty remedy will depend upon the particular defect, product and availability of suitable parts or replacement goods.

The remedy may involve repair, replacement of an affected component, replacement of an affected rod section, replacement of the rod or, where the original model or component is no longer reasonably available, provision of a reasonably comparable replacement.

Where only one rod section or component requires replacement, TAA Fishing is not required under the voluntary warranty to replace an entire rod merely to achieve an exact cosmetic match, provided that the remedy otherwise properly addresses the accepted warranty defect.

These are commercial-warranty remedies. They do not override any different remedy to which a consumer is legally entitled under statutory law.

17. Replacement Rods and Warranty Periods

Where a rod, rod section or covered component is replaced under the voluntary TAA Limited Rod Warranty, the replacement remains associated with the original registered purchaser and warranty record.

The warranty record or certificate may be updated with the replacement serial number and relevant claim information.

Unless TAA Fishing expressly states otherwise, replacement under the voluntary commercial warranty does not create a new commercial-warranty period or extend the original warranty expiry date.

The original applicable warranty period therefore continues according to the dates associated with that registered warranty.

This provision concerns a remedy supplied under the voluntary commercial warranty and does not restrict statutory rights applying to a statutory repair or replacement.

18. Discontinued Products and Components

TAA Fishing rod models, components, finishes and specifications may change over time.

Where an identical product or component is no longer reasonably available for an accepted commercial-warranty claim, TAA Fishing may provide a reasonably comparable replacement.

The replacement may differ in appearance, finish, component generation or minor specification where necessary, provided that it remains an appropriate commercial-warranty remedy.

Where a replacement is supplied, TAA Fishing may require the original affected rod, section or component to be returned and retained as part of the completed claim.

19. Claims Outside the Warranty

Where the evidence and any reasonable inspection indicate that the reported problem falls outside the scope of the TAA Limited Rod Warranty, the commercial-warranty claim may be declined.

Where appropriate, TAA Fishing will explain the principal reason for the decision.

Declining a claim under the voluntary commercial warranty does not remove any statutory consumer right which independently applies.

Expiry of the commercial warranty similarly does not determine whether statutory consumer rights remain available.

20. Fraudulent or Materially Misleading Registrations and Claims

TAA Fishing may reasonably investigate registrations or claims where there is evidence suggesting fraud, dishonesty or material misrepresentation.

This can include deliberate alteration of serial numbers, substitution of another rod or component, false proof of purchase, knowingly false statements about how damage occurred, manipulated evidence, deliberate damage represented as a manufacturing defect, duplicate claims or misuse of another customer's registration details.

Where reasonably necessary and lawful, relevant information may be retained or shared with retailers, carriers, payment providers, insurers, professional advisers, fraud-prevention services or competent authorities.

This does not permit TAA Fishing to reject a genuine statutory claim merely because the customer has previously made a return, complaint or warranty claim.

Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

21. Statutory Consumer Rights

The TAA Limited Rod Warranty is a voluntary commercial guarantee and is additional to statutory consumer rights.

It does not replace, restrict or reduce statutory rights concerning the quality, fitness, description or conformity of goods.

Where the rod was purchased directly from TAA Fishing, applicable statutory rights arising from that purchase may be exercised against The Amateur Angler Ltd.

Where the rod was purchased from an independent stockist, statutory rights arising from the sale ordinarily remain against that retailer.

Registration under the TAA Limited Rod Warranty is not a condition of exercising statutory rights which otherwise apply.

22. Associated Product and Warranty Information

The individual Warranty Certificate, these general warranty terms and any binding warranty promise made in associated product advertising should be read together.

If TAA Fishing advertises a particular warranty duration or commercial-warranty benefit for a particular rod, that information should correspond with the Warranty Certificate issued for that rod.

If you believe there is an inconsistency between your Warranty Certificate and the warranty expressly offered when you purchased your rod, please contact info@taafishing.com.

24. Changes to These Warranty Terms

TAA Fishing may update these general warranty terms for future purchases or future warranty programmes where reasonably necessary because of changes in products, systems, procedures, law or business operations.

A later version will not retrospectively remove a commercial-warranty entitlement which has already arisen under the terms applicable to an eligible rod.

Customers should retain their Warranty Certificate as part of their individual warranty record.
